Mozaic Beach Club in Bali

Private Dining and Lounging West of Seminyak

Mozaic Beach Club extends the quality-dining scene of Ubud’s Mozaic Restaurant Gastronomique to the southern shores of Bali, with a twist. The beach club opened in mid-2012, bringing the brand closer to aficionados on Jalan Pantai Batu Belig, the serene and gorgeous coast west of Seminyak. As the only beach club on this black-sand beach, Mozaic Beach Club offers two different dining scenes. A poolside bar and lounge with a seaside sundeck offers a laidback alternative to the sophisticated private dining restaurant north of the blue tiled pool.

Following the main Jalan Batu Belig route, a beach road descends past the Grand Bali Sani Suites leading you to the seascape and slightly barren beach. The beach club is a solitary but magnificent sight 600 metres along the coastline. This secluded location enhances the venue’s quiet and private setting.

Security guards at the front gate are thorough but courteous, and the welcoming staff offer warm hospitality in a professional and well-trained manner. Expectations are high and are met with great service, an elegant atmosphere and a drinks list that measures up to the gourmet selections. Enter the restaurant up a flight of stairs, leading you to the main dining hall that shows a fine interplay of subtle lighting from virtually all directions, including the floors.

Beside the main dining room is a private chamber, embellished with a magnificent golden palm, fine decor and lavish table settings. This ‘Lotus Arts de Vivre Private Dining Room Created for Chris Salans’ is a more private and romantic option that accepts reservations for up to 20 guests for private family dinners and romantic getaways. Silk-lined walls and a ceiling that mimics a star-studded sky, with soft lighting create an intimate atmosphere.

Outside, the lounge is a great place for more laidback occasions, and the sundeck is beautiful, day or night, with views across the beach to the ocean. Here you can enjoy exquisite cuisine in smaller portions. Nibbles to accompany your cocktails or beers range from freshly baked breads, homemade potato chips to Japanese-style crispy chicken served with ground local peppers and anchovy espuma. We satisfy our appetites with the Japanese crispy chicken salad that also featured slices of star fruit, cherry tomatoes and seasoned mangoes – all in a succulent, sweet n’ sour soy sauce dressing. There are also fusion and Western delights on the menu, such as a seared market fresh garoupa with lemongrass infused sauce and wild kemangi or basil flowers, and grilled Angus beef tenderloin with green peppercorn jus and wild rocket salad.

Mozaic Beach Club’s SunDeck Delights is one of the regular programs that feature cocktails, inspiring tapas and cool beats on the large wooden poolside deck. The creations are from Executive Chef James Ephraim, who under the direction of Mozaic chef and founder Chris Salans, heads the beach club’s culinary brigade. Our evening had DJ Martin East (of Rock Bar fame) spinning the beats beside the bar and lounge with a full moon and clear sky to go together with the cool scene. On other nights, enjoy bossa nova and Latin sounds spun by resident DJ Glynn.
