Named after the type of Javanese wooden house that it uses as its main restaurant structure, Joglo is eye-catching on drives along the main Candidasa road. The restaurant specialises in Indonesian cuisine and offers a great seafood selection. The whole setting of the restaurant pays homage to Indonesia’s rich art and cultural heritage, through its use of ornately carved wooden panels as backdrops and interiors filled with old Javanese art décor. There’s also a great wine collection, featuring bottles from local vineyards as well as fine vintages from Australia, South Africa and Chile. Top-shelf spirits and liqueurs at its bar make for some impressive cocktails as well. There are seating options inside the joglo house, and alfresco in lush gardens. Must-tries include pork spare ribs, crispy duck and lamb chops with mint sauce.
