Since 1996 Jazz Café has been offering music lovers a place where talented musicians could jam together as well as dine in a stylish and intimate atmosphere. The concept proved popular, and it flourished through word of mouth alone to become a landmark in the Bali music scene. Coupled with great food and drinks, Jazz Café was immediately on the map.Jazz Café is set in a semi open-air pavilion, with the interiors boasting photos of all-time greats the likes of Louis Armstrong and Billy Holiday. Candle-lit tables encircle the stage, and comfortable cushions on raised platforms all serve as cosy seating options. Thatch-roofed dining pavilions in the surrounding tropical garden provide private corners to dine and indulge.The Jazz-themed bistro has live music every night with regular bands and a lineup of special events presenting a wide variety of musical genres and international artists at least once a week.

Jazz Cafe BaliJazz Cafe Bali is both a live music venue and dining spot; serving as a club, cafe, and restaurant and bar, and a favourite gathering spot for music-lovers. Its main venue features great local, national and occasional international guest bands performing various musical genres, from jazz and blues to Latin, funk, soul and world music.

The Jazz Cafe’s bistro serves Asian cuisine and beverage selections from the bar help patrons enjoy the evening’s ambiance and flow of tunes. This jazz club is hidden away from the main Ubud centre, but is easily found along Jalan Sukma 2, Tebeyasa, mere metres away from the Pura Dalem Temple.Jazz Cafe features a thatched roof design in its main structure accessible via a modest front entrance. Past the main performance area, bar and seating area leads you into a garden with a traditional gazebo and tables and lounges. Across from the bar is a live performance area, and all around the white subtly lit interior walls are pictures of the world’s great music artists.

The live music evenings feature a cosy ambiance where candle-lit tables surround the main area, and alternative seating options include throw cushions arranged around a raised platform area, as well as further private options in the thatched-roofed bale pavilions in the flanking tropical garden. Although performance schedules may vary, the usual live line-up has Tuesday evenings presenting smooth and mellow jazz from the band Ito Kurdi Jazz Trio. Wednesdays feature Latin grooves by the band Buena Terra, Thursdays have Funky Fusion from the Vivafavela Band, Fridays with gospel and soul from the Aurora Quartet; Saturdays with rhythm and blues from the Bali Blues Band and Sundays features acoustic jazz from the Gayatri Acoustic Trio.

Good to Know about Jazz Cafe Bali

Jazz Café was established in 1996 when Agung Wiryawan and wife Nina decided to combine their passions in music and design in a spot where Agung could jam with fellow musicians. The idea materialized into the stylish and intimate venue. Eventually, Jazz Café caught on wide interest and soon became a favourite jam spot, as well as a place known for its cuisine and cocktails.

The cafe is open daily with live music performances usually from 19:30 until late except on Mondays. The establishment offers free pickup services from hotels in the Ubud area, as well as to its sister establishment, the Laughing Buddha Bar located at Jalan Monkey Forest.
